This is an updated version of the previous post I did. After tons of research, I bought a 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium with 11k miles on it. This car is practically brand new. Got it at Veterans Ford in Tampa.
In the last version of this post, which I’ve replaced with this post, I was bitching about how people want to tell me that the EcoBoost is stupid and the GT V8 is the only “true” Mustang. It’s utter horseshit, but it reminds me of the Gibson vs. Epiphone debate. There are people who think the Epiphone Les Paul is terrible because it’s not a Gibson. I’ve got both. They’re just guitars.
I didn’t want the GT. I’m in the car almost two hours a day. It would have cost me 4 grand per year extra for the gas. And I couldn’t afford one, which is probably the more important reason I didn’t get one. Well, I could have gotten a really old one or something, but I didn’t want to buy a 6 year old car.
After a couple of days of owning the EcoBoost, I like it a lot. It’s different than my old V6 – the V6 almost seemed a bit smoother in terms of gear shifting from 0 to 60, but the EcoBoost can get to 60 about 2 seconds faster. It’s definitely quicker. I prefer the normal mode to the Sports mode, but the Sports mode is faster.
The Premium has enough features to keep me busy for a while. CarPlay works fantastic – I’ve never had it before, and now I’ll never do without it. This car has a zillion bells and whistles which I am really enjoying.
I’m on vacation this week, but Monday morning I go back to work. I’m looking forward to the drive.
