My new album, “False Alarm,” is now available on every streaming service as well as Bandcamp.  This album is very 80s synth pop based, and features various vocalists from Synthesizer V.  When I put out my last album, it was really a struggle to get the vocals done because I was losing my voice.  I can speak just fine, and sometimes I can sing a bit – but age and various medical issues have clobbered my voice.

Synthesizer V was a godsend.  I chose the right singer for each of the 10 songs, and programmed the vocals the same way I’d program a string section or drum machine part. I’m really pleased with the results – the average person will not be able to tell that the vocals are basically from a synth.

All the keyboards and drums on this album are from plugins except for the CP80 sounds, and I sampled those from my Yamaha MX88.  I used a lot of Arturia V Collection 9 synths, as well as Cherry Audio’s Mercury 6 and Quadra.  And there are also some stock Logic synths in the mix, too.

There ARE a couple of guitar solos, such as the solo on “Never Alone.”  In terms of guitars, I used my American Strat partscaster, my PRS SE Custom 24, my Squier Strat, and my Epiphone Les Paul.  For amps, it’s just the HX Stomp for everything. In addition to solos, there are some funky clean parts and some power chord stuff.  But honestly, this is synth pop.

I’m really pleased with how this album came out.  If you want to, give it a listen on your streaming platform of choice, and if you aren’t subscribed to one, check out the tracks on YouTube.  Here are the main links:
