C’mon, man!

I turned 55 this summer.  As a wise man once said, age is the cost of living.  Or something like that.  Anyway, an add suggesting that the pentatonic scale makes playing impossible or some such nonsense has been following me around online for a while now, including when I visit my own site.  That’s not an issue – the issue is that each version of the ad has some old man playing guitar.  It’s like they’ve outed me as being a senior citizen.

I have a few gray hairs on my temples, but I’m not 70.

Ads on this website are annoying but have become necessary – it costs money to host and run a website.  The ads cover my expenses, and maybe buy me some guitar strings here or there.  I’m certainly not getting rich from them.  I do this site because I love to write and talk about guitars, not for the money.  Which is good, because the ads don’t bring in that much.

To those readers who are in their 20’s and 30’s, I have a message for you: don’t worry about hitting 55.  It’s not that much different.  You have more money, you have more respect, you have more aches and pains.  Your sex life is still fine.  Your playing may or may not slow down a little bit.  My voice is still able to hit every note I could hit 20 years ago, but since I’m a bass, that’s not that impressive.  Your voice will sound a little different, though.  Still, if I could go back in time, I wouldn’t.  In about 7 more years I’ll be done with “working” forever.  What a strange concept.  I’m certain I’ll still be doing this website in 7 years.  I’ll probably still be doing the YouTube channel, but who knows.  At some time, I’ll become “Old Man MacLemale” on the channel and joke about my age all the time.  As long as I’m amusing myself, I’m good.

This post has nothing to do with anything, but I wanted to post it, so I did.
