The struggle is real.
I’ve got this drive, this desire to own an SG guitar, even though I’m not crazy about them, because they’re so iconic. I mean, it ships with the shitty Alnico Classic pickups which would need to be swapped out, and how much would I really play it? But they’re so cool looking and I don’t have one so I want one.
I don’t want to spend two grand on a Gibson SG… I think the Epiphone version is just fine. It certainly looks identical, and I want it for the looks. But to be fair, the modern (2022) Epiphone SG is a very well made instrument, certainly professional quality (except the muddy pickups).
But there’s other stuff I need. I really need a gig bag for my Yamaha MX88 keyboard. I also need a cart for moving speakers around at gigs. Who wants to drop money on a cart? Well, anyone who is gigging at 57, that’s who. Still, I will eventually get me one of those Epiphone SG guitars.
