I started this site almost 5 years ago as a “labor of like,” meaning I like to write about guitars, and if I wanted to do something that would stick around, it’d need to be low pressure and low maintenance.  As a result, this site is sometimes left neglected for a month while I build an arcade cabinet or do something else.  But I always come back.

Recently I’ve gotten some email asking me what the most popular site content is.  Good question!  Here’s the Top 10 most read posts here on Budget Guitarist, starting with #1 being the most popular.

  1. Fender Bassbreaker 007 Amp Review.  Lots of people were super interested in the Bassbreaker.  I’ve owned two of them, and this post was the most read.
  2. FAQ – Coil Split vs Coil Tap and Why Both Sound Bad.  This was actually a surprise to me, because as you’ll see, this list is dominated by reviews.
  3. The Shortcomings of the Fender Bassbreaker 007.  Again with the Bassbreaker.  People like to read about this amp.
  4. Review – Epiphone ES339 Pro.  I have one.  Um… it’s OK.
  5. Vox AC4C1-12 Review.  Readers like amp reviews.
  6. PRS SE Custom 24.  Killer guitar!
  7. Review – PRS SE Standard 24.  The cheaper version of #6.
  8. Fender Super Champ X2.  I miss mine a little bit.
  9. Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III amp.  Wonderful for live gigs, awful for home use.
  10. Epiphone Les Paul Upgrade Guide (Top 10 Tips.)  Aren’t you glad they’re not all on separate pages?

Other extremely popular posts that didn’t make the Top 10:

  • Ibanez GIO GRG270dx Review.  Who the hell names these guitars?  You know what’s a cool name?  Ibanez Iceman.  C’mon now.
  • Fender Bassbreaker 15 Combo Amp Review.  Almost reached the Top 10.  Not a ton of people wrote a lot about the Bassbreaker, which is funny, because it’s amazing.
  • Epiphone Les Paul Special P90.  I think a lot of people wanted me to love this guitar, but I can’t.  It’s horrible.  I’m proud of this post.  I think it’s very practical advice.
  • Tumnus Mini Review.  Neat pedal.  A tad pricey for what it does.  This’d be a great used pedal.

So there you go.  The popular posts are dominated by reviews.  I’m still going to put up informational or “how to” posts, because even an unpopular post that is only seen by 3 to 4 thousand people is still at least putting info out there.  That’s not a humble brag, people.  My web site is low traffic compared to the biggie sites out there.  But I appreciate each and every one of you who read this site.  As always, thank you for reading!
